Welcome to ShowMeThirdPlaces, operated by 17988117 CANADA CORP.. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the ShowMeThirdPlaces website and services (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The Service

ShowMeThirdPlaces is a community-powered directory that helps people discover “third places” — cafes, libraries, parks, and similar spots to work, study, and gather. Information about places and activities is aggregated from public and third-party sources and enriched by community contributions. We provide the Service on an ongoing but not guaranteed basis and may change or discontinue features at any time.

Accounts

  • You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
  • Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

Community contributions

The Service lets you contribute content such as attribute observations, fit ratings, reviews, tips, photos, place or activity submissions, and closure, cancellation, or correction reports (“Contributions”). You agree that your Contributions will be truthful and made in good faith. You are solely responsible for your Contributions.

You retain ownership of your Contributions. By submitting them, you grant ShowMeThirdPlaces a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute them in connection with operating and promoting the Service. This license lets us show your Contributions to other users as part of the community record.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Post false, misleading, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or unlawful content.
  • Submit spam, advertising, or Contributions intended to manipulate a place’s ratings or status.
  • Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.
  • Scrape, harvest, or bulk-download data from the Service except as expressly permitted, or attempt to circumvent rate limits or other technical protections.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any systems or data.
  • Violate any applicable law or the rights of others.

We may remove Contributions and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are harmful to the community.

Place information and third-party data

Place listings draw on third-party sources including Yelp and OpenStreetMap contributors. OpenStreetMap data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and used under the Open Database License. Such data is provided by its respective sources, and we do not guarantee its accuracy. Listings on the Service do not imply any endorsement by, or affiliation with, the places listed.

Accuracy and no professional advice

Information on the Service — including hours, amenities, and whether a place is open — is community-sourced and may be incomplete, out of date, or incorrect. Verify important details directly with a place before relying on them. The Service does not provide professional advice.

Intellectual property

The Service’s name, design, software, and original content (excluding Contributions and third-party data) are owned by ShowMeThirdPlaces and protected by applicable laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our branding without our prior written permission.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any information will be accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, 17988117 CANADA CORP., operating as ShowMeThirdPlaces, will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, goodwill, or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limitations. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, remedies, guarantees, or other rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including mandatory consumer-protection rights.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless 17988117 CANADA CORP., operating as ShowMeThirdPlaces, from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your Contributions, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or the rights of others.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — such as license grants for Contributions, disclaimers, and limitations of liability — will survive.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to any mandatory right you have to bring a claim elsewhere, you and 17988117 CANADA CORP. submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario. These Terms do not require arbitration.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
